| Our Regatta season runs March
through September each year. The CPGA provide dates in October and the club
decides what events it wishes to attend following the AGM in November. Dates
will then be posted here on this page and also on the club calendar.

CPGA Code of Conduct
The CPGA expect all clubs to follow these guidelines
whether at regattas or at their home bases.
1) Consider the well being and safety of all.
2) Promote the benefits of our sport in participation, both socially and
in competition.
3) Adhere to guidelines/rules as set by the CPGA eg. child protection,
health and safety, sea safety, racing rules.
4) Encourage all participants to value their performance and those of
others and not just results.
5) Make sure of the appropriateness of age, ability and experience to
the activity.
6) Set a good example - accept the umpires decision, maintain composure
at all times and do not shout or ridicule rowers or officials.
7) Promote the positive aspects of our sport, especially fair play, friendship
and respect.
8) Accept responsibility for their actions.
9) Display high standards in use of language and manner.
Scillies World Championships Race Rules 2010
Racing Code of Practice
1) All gigs must carry a working hand-held portable VHF Radio set on
channel 8.
2) For any crew to be eligible for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th places they must
have the same six
rowers and coxswain for all championship races.
3) All crew members must be 16 and over. all coxswains to be over 18 years
of age.
4) All coxwains are expected to observe good seamanship at all times.
5) Any gig not on the start line at its allotted start time could be disqualified,
at the
discretion of the start marshal.
6) Any gig failing to obey the start marshal's orders will be given a
final warning and disqualification will take place if this is ignored.
7) Starting berths on the st agnes race will be in alphabetical order.
8) Any gig touching a safety boat will be liable to disqualification.
9) All boats must steer a proper course. any zigzagging to block another
boat will result in
disqualification.
10) All gigs must stay outside the yellow buoys along the st. marys
shore on the st. agnes race.
11) In the event of a collision all crews should make every attempt to
disengage. Spinning a gig or taking off the yoke will both result in disqualification.
12) All gigs must finish between the two finish buoys. gigs nearest the
buoys must be given water. Any gig finishing outside the buoys may be
disqualified.
13) Any gig not completing a race will not be placed in the championship.
14) In the event of a serious safety incident the race may be stopped
by the release of flares.
Note: All decisions made by race stewards of the world championship committee
will be final.
When travelling to Regattas club members are advised to check the Cornish
Pilot Gig Association web site at www.cpga.co.uk the night before to confirm
that the event is going ahead. This is especially important if the weather
is bad.
